  • 25th Anniversary of AMCA Toronto

    fireworks

    Dragi kolege i prijatelji,

    Dear colleagues and friends,

Twenty-five years ago today, attended by 238 members, the Founding Assembly of the Toronto Chapter of Almae Matris Alumni of University of Zagreb Association took place at the University of Toronto, Mississauga Campus. Please see the founding documents below. In the years to come our association, today known as AMCA Almae Matris Croaticae Alumni – Toronto (or AMCA Toronto), would include alumni from all the Universities of the Republic of Croatia.

AMCA Toronto has contributed greatly to the promotion of the Croatian point of view during the aggression on the Republic of Croatia in the 1990’s. During that period the association helped finance Croatian studies at U of T, organized lectures and issued bulletins.

After the victory in the Homeland War, and particularly after the establishment of full control over its territory by the Republic of Croatia, our focus gradually shifted back to the original purpose and goals of our association. Today AMCA Toronto promotes Croatian culture and language, Croatian talents, maintains ties with the Universities in Croatia and other AMCA organizations, and supports the Croatian community of southern Ontario. Thanks to our efforts, AMCA Toronto is now widely recognized as a strong, focused and successful organization, the centre of intellectual life of the Croatian community and one of the most active organizations of its kind.

Formal celebration of the Silver Anniversary will take place during the 14th Annual AMCA Toronto Gala on Friday October 23, 2015 at The Boulevard Club.

Happy 25th anniversary and best wishes for a long and successful life to our AMCA Toronto.
